The Travel Packing List You Need For Your Kids

I enjoy vacationing as much as the next parent, yet preparing the entire family for the next trip makes me want to run the other way!

Everyone needs their own suitcase, you face either long flights or a long trip in the car, and everyone has their own personal items they want to bring.

The list feels as though it continues on into infinity!

There is so much to remember and then you have the worry about forgetting the really important things like someone’s favorite cuddle toy!

Whether you are going on a beach vacation or simply visiting family, you know there will be a ton of packing.

By the time you have gathered water bottles, packing cubes, and anything that could be listed as an essential item for everyone else, you have no time to pack your own stuff.

Most of us have been there and feel frazzled at a time that should be fun and relaxing.

Having a family vacation packing list has been such a help to me personally.

The list is ready to go, which means I can spend time getting things done rather than having to start a brand new list.

I also do not wake up in the middle of the night trying to remember if I packed first aid kits along with the kitchen sink!

Remembering to pack items for these car road trip games has made our travel days run so much more smoothly.

It is such a help to have them at the ready for the many times that the boredom of traveling descends upon the kids.

Getting your young children to help with packing is a great way to help them learn some independence while also making them feel like they are helping with the family trip!

As they grow into big kids, they can take on more responsibility as you see fit.

Our kid’s travel packing list is a good idea to get your young kids started on their packing journey!

Travel Packing List For Kids

The fresh and clean look of this packing list captures my attention right away.

I think that having a happy and bright looking list helps alleviate some of the stress of having to pack!

The layout of this packing list saves so much time as well by having items listed by their use: clothing, recreation, toiletries, electronics, incidental needs, as well as a blank section for personalization.

There is a very clear section for clothing that can help ensure you will leave no piece of necessary clothing behind.

I really appreciate that it includes blank lines for you to write how many of each item of clothing needs to be packed.

One of my favorite features of this list are the boxes to check off what you have packed.

There is something so very satisfying about being able to check off each box and know you have completed something!

We have also included a list of seasonal items as well as all of the right things to pack as far as toiletries and electronics are concerned.

Lastly, there is an entire section for you to personalize and add any other items that need to be packed.

This is very helpful since there is a big difference between what you may need for older kids and the pack n play you need for your little ones.

How To Get The Most Out Of This Free Printable

This list is a game changer for getting your kids ready for vacation.

I appreciate the room left to let your kids know how many of each item of clothing to choose, given the limited space you have when packing.

Take a bit of time to go through the list, fill out any important things that may need to be added in the free spaces provided on the list.

A good way to help encourage your child’s buy in is to give them a fun pen or marker to check off each item they have chosen.

In addition to that, chat with your younger children about what they would like to add to the list.

One of the best ways to encourage your older kids to help is to have them fill out the blank spaces on the list with items they would like to bring.

Remind them that they may have to bring fewer clothes due to limited space.

I recommend having them lay out their selections on their bed so that you can come take a look when they are ready to show you what they have chosen.

It may also be good to add one or two extra outfits for small children in case of the expected unexpected, if you know what I mean!

As you are going through the list with your kids, you may want to help them along and recommend they bring that great toy that has multiple uses or their favorite cuddle toy.

Work with them to show them where you have a travel-size brush and show them where some things need to be packed for easy access.

Let your kids have some input into their car snacks.

After all, it is much better to go on a family trip with kids of all ages when they enjoy the snacks you have brought!

I know that traveling takes on a different feel once you add kids to the equation.

There are some truly wonderful added joys, like seeing your kids having a good time or experiencing a place for the first time.

It can also be a lot more work and I know a lot of caregivers feel like vacation no longer feels like vacation to them anymore.

My hope is that this list can help make that burden feel a bit less and help you enjoy these moments with your family.
