As a parent, I am always looking for ways to connect with my son. I think it is really important to understand your child and who they are.
In my time as a mom, I have found that asking questions seems to be the least complicated way to start up the best conversations.
I have used these questions for kids to help me get to know my son and his developing personality better.
It is truly amazing how much you can learn by how kids answer questions or even how they initially react to each question.
While sometimes we do well with just asking questions, there are times when it is better to learn things about him in a playful way.
In addition to that, it gives him a chance to ask me questions and feel like we have a nice back and forth conversation.
One way to foster this type of conversation is to play a game of never have I ever.
It’s a fun way to learn new (and possibly funny) facts about your friends and family.
In case you are not familiar with this game, we have included some instructions below as well as some variations on the game.
After the instructions, we have you covered with several lists of never have I ever questions that will get you started.
How To Play
Before we get into some great questions for this game, we must first review how to play. Anyone can start by stating something they have never done.
Everyone holds up ten fingers and puts one finger down every time something is said that they have done.
Then the next person says something they have never done and so forth.
Once all of your fingers are down, you are out of the game. The person with the most fingers up at the end of ten questions wins that particular round.
A fun variation of this game for kids would be to include 10 pieces of candy for each participant instead of fingers.
Every time someone hears something they have done, they eat a piece of candy.
The person left with the most candy at the end is the winner and may then of course eat their candy as well!
For a more active version of this game, you could assign an action for each answer.
For example, everyone who has done something has to do ten jumping jacks or run around the room.
Lastly, you can really bring out the laughs with a sticker variation of this game.
Every time someone has done something, they have to put a sticker on their face.
The person with the least number of stickers on their face wins the game!
One of the great things about this game is that you can change it in any way needed to fit your particular situation.
For example, if you happen to be playing this game during the summer, you could use water balloons to splash on someone if they have done a particular item on the list.
In the winter, you could substitute the water balloons for snowballs. The point is that it should bring everyone joy!
This game is certain to make everyone laugh and maybe even surprised at what they learn about their friends and family!
